Organic cotton dress for Adelaide/Monroe aka Ebelissa

This was fun - I hope that it is not too warm. The yoke was my first but knitting up the sleeves and just putting them on the big circular and doing the yoke was a real learning experience.

Hope she likes it!

Adelaide/Monroe's Teddy Bear

Once again this is organic cotton. It's funny that it took me almost as long to sew together as to knit. The pattern didn't really tell how to do shaping but I jumped in and did a long stitch and then gathered where I wanted shape. The nose, ears (inside and out), tummy neck and paws all got shaping and it made a fairly shapeless bear look like a teddy. She has red nail polish on and a lace collar so you know she's a girl. She is about 9 inches tall - about right for a baby.

The pattern is a free one from Berroco - Air Bear.

Organic cotton bib and organic socks

The bib is more Blue Sky organic cotton. The socks are organic cotton mostly but also organic silk and wool.

Finished another Tea Cozy (for my mom)

These Tea Cozies really make your tea better and stays hot a long time. You can also just hang them on the wall. I used Navajo wool again - the pink was nicer than the purple and the wool felted REALLY fast (less than 5 minutes).

This is the Elizabeth Zimmerman Baby Surprise Jacket before I sewed it together:

This is the jacket after sewing it together and then after I added the collar (picked up stitches and then increased 25% about every other row). Notice the little cap that I knitted to go with the EZ BSJ!

Started the Elizabeth Zimmerman Baby Surprise Jacket

The instructions seem clear but the result is a bit ambiguous. I'm only on row 37 of 90 so there is a lot left to go. I'm knitting the EZ BSJ on size 2 needles and the organic cotton seems to really like the smaller gauge - the knitting is going very smoothly. It is in garter stitch so it's lack of stretch should not be a problem.

My knitting bag from book Knitter's Stash

I had finished this a couple of months ago but hadn't taken any pictures. It is a great bag. It's felted and quite sturdy. It was fun to make too.

Finished baby blanket/sleeping bag

I FINISHED! Since I started the double knitted blanket we found out that our new grandbaby is a girl! So she got lacy edges. This is made with organic undyed cotton. It can be used to slip the baby inside or as a receiving blanket. It can also be used as a baby bath towel since it's cotton. (My granddaughter Madeleine loaned me her baby doll Jilly to show the blanket)

Today tinked for 3 hours on double knit

1. Okay, you don't want to make a mistake and perl when you should be slipping perlwise with double knitting. Especially if you don't notice for 12 rows. If it had been regular knitting I would have frogged back to fix but I didn't have the nerve to try and recover the double knitting setup after frogging (read terror here).

So tinking on double knit is just like knitting double knit except twice as slow.

Really need to check at the end of every row for mistakes. Other wise this is going to be a double thick blanket instead of a baby sleeping bag.

But I am 17 inches through a 32 inch project!

working on the receiving blanket/bath towel/sleeping bag for new grandbaby

After working about 10 swatches to find a nice stitch in the Bluesky organic cotton, decided that since it didn't stretch simple was best. I am doing a double knit receiving blanket that I will finish off into a pocket (bind off each side seperately). It is a large version of EZ's potholder. I am using a 2ply brown/cream twist. The cotton is very fragile (it pulls apart very easily) so I knitting very loosely.

On the plus side, it is VERY soft and feels good in my lap.

Other ideas are bibs, saque/kimono, washcloth, caps and booties. Pictures to follow.

finished Madeleine's socks and knitted up the gross green yarn

I had made Madeleine's socks out of the Paton's Paintbox and made them too small (old measurements). I frogged them back and reknitted them with size 2 needles 7 3/4 inch foot and 2 inch ribbing on the top. After I cast on 52 stitches and spread to 3 needles and joined, I knitted the first round. Then I ribbed for a couple of rounds then changed to size 1 needles for the rest of the rib. Then switched back to size 2. The resulting top of the sock looked very nice. The knitted round gave the top a finished look that the ribbing doesn't. The smaller rib from size one needles gave a more springy rib.

The gross green cotton yarn that I had ordered online that came in a nasty color is all knitted up and I actually found someone that said what a nice color. I knitted it into a dishcloth from a lone star knitters knit-along and a pot holder with a double knitted center section. I really liked the pot holder (from one of Elizabeth Zimmerman's books) The dishcloth says Love to knit.
