Monroe with the bear

My precious daughter in law Melissa has taken lots of pictures of Monroe with the little bears and I wanted to collect a few so that I could see all the lovies that these bears get from sweet Monroe.

I also found a picture of Monroe as a tiny baby wearing the EZ BSJ that I knitted for her.  Is she beautiful or what?

FInished Highland Triangle Shawl!

Loved this project.  It knit up in less than a month and is nice.  I made a few mistakes but they just give character.

I would do another one of these in a heartbeat but I don't need one and don't know who else in my family would actually wear a shawl.

I also frogged back the other shawl that I had knitted and was never happy with.    It will now be resting to become the socks that it was really destined to be.

Highland Triangle Shawl

I am also working on the Highland Triangle Shawl.  It is usually done in lace weight yarn but I wanted something really warm so I am using dusty rose worsted weight wool.

This image is of someone else using the same pattern.

I am almost through with it and I started it on December 29th, 2008.  It has flown!  I am on the border.  The center section is a total yawn and I am sure that I made lots of mistakes but the border is simple, clean and engaging.  Hope to finish it while it is still cold in Texas.

Then I'll get back to my mitered square blanket done in Tahki cotton. Much easier to work on in the summer!

Mitered square blanket

Since last spring I have been working on the mitered square blanket from Mason Dixon knitting.  Here is a picture of how far along I am and then the way it is supposed to look.

I am making the square but it will look more like a knitted quilt ... I like the ordered elements.

I have made a lot of little square and sewed a lot of big (4 block squares) but there is a lot left to do.

I am having shoulder surgery again in February so whatever doesn't get done between now and then will have to wait 3-4 months.

Made 2 more bears for Monroe

Monroe is so attached to her "beddy bear" that she needs one for day care naps, one for night time and one for the washer.  Melissa was having to sneak the bear out Saturday morning and hope that it was dry (organic cotton) by bedtime.  She is working too hard for that kind of stress.

This picture of Monroe features her Aunt Naomi (holding Monroe), Beddy Bear (in Monroe's arms) and Granddad holding his teddy from when he was Monroe's age.  Granddad likes to dress for special occasions like Christmas.
